  • The first step is finding the right therapist. I offer a free consultation so you can decide if I would be a good fit, and we can explore how I might be able to help you. During the first few sessions we will identify the struggles that bring you to me and outline goals for our work together. We will then work together to help you achieve those goals. Sometimes things can seem worse before they get better as you try new ways of navigating in your life. Being open to change and new ways of doing things will help the process.

  • I have chosen to work directly with individuals like you, rather than for insurance companies. I believe that the most effective care involves creating a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, rather than adhering to the strict guidelines set by insurance providers.

As a result, I am not paneled with any insurance carriers. However, if your insurance plan covers out-of-network providers, they may reimburse you for a portion of my fee. I recommend contacting your insurance company to find out what the reimbursement rates are for your specific plan.

  • It is your right to decline a diagnosis. Diagnoses will only be provided for the purposes of submitting reimbursement claims to your healthcare insurance provider should you desire. All diagnoses will be communicated between you and I only for the purpose of treatment planning and referrals to appropriate providers.

When submitting information to an insurance company, the insurance company decides the “appropriate” course of care for your treatment and the length of those sessions - not you. Private information shared with your insurance company may be stored in the Medical Information Bureau where it can be accessed in the future by other parties at a future date.

  • How long you stay in therapy depends on your needs. Research indicates that many clients notice improvement in 12 to 15 sessions, which I expect for you as well. Some feel better enough to finish therapy in that time, while others continue to benefit from it and continue as their lives change. My goal is to help you reach your goals as quickly as we can.
